Pineville, Missouri is on the south west corner of the state near Bella Vista, Arkansas.  The Big Elk Campsite sets alongside the Elk River not far off of Highway 71.  It boast eletricity and water for the majority of the camping spots.  We selected a spot with both water and electricity.  It was hot and humid at night so the electricity was used to run a small fan and a make shift air conditioner that I fabricated based on a you tube video I saw on the internet.  The A/C unit worked like a charm requiring us all to cover up in our sleeping bags for a cozy sleep.

The Elk River is a moderate and calm river with a rocky bed.  We opted for two canoes splitting up one child with one adult.  It was the first time either child had canoed and they absolutely loved it.  Unfortunately we did not take any pictures as it rained the majority of the time.  Our journey endured four hours as we stopped for a brief lunch on one of the smaller islands.  There were several outfitters along the river that provided canoe, raft, tube, and kayak rentals.
