I’ve seen a couple of capitols in the 22 years I’ve walked this earth but Luxembourg city is one of the greatest (of course Paris is still nr 1 ..).
This city has the best of the whole country combined into one! Of course there are a lot of shops so if you want to go and get a new wardrobe, pas de probleme. If you want go and see museums, there plenty of those. If you want to visit old buildings, or a church they’re there. But when you want some peace and quit end walk around a green area the city will provide that.
I’ve never been to a city who had al of this like Luxembourg city has it.
Because when you go to the shopping street you really feel like a big spender. And when you go an visit a museum you will feel like the museum visitor, and when you set foot into the park you really get the feeling you’re in a forest far, far away from a country’s capitol.
I’ve never experienced this anywhere else and it gave me a great feeling! Such a small country but such hidden treasure.
· Visit the Pont Adolphe and visit the park between the bridge.
· Go to the National Museum. It only cost €5.- and it will give you a good idea about the history of Luxembourg.
· Go with your car to Luxembourg city. It’s the one and only capitol I would take a car to! The road is passably quit nicely and the parking won’t cost you that much. About €1.- an hour, and that for a capitol!
· Visit the kazematten. It’s an underground passages and the 400 stairsteps will bring you back into the past.
· Take your dog with you, he or she is not allowed in any of the buildings.
