A trip to Skiathos, and you'll get it all! I mean what you ever can expect of a weeks holiday. At Koukounaries you find many good beaches and one for every interest I think. You never need to get tired of one and the only beach and you can choose among a number of them in just twentyfive minutes walk from the hotel Muses. You can choose long sandy beaches, naturist beaches, rocky beaches, water-sport beaches, secluded beaches on your own, yeah you name it. The island is covered with sand and pine-trees as well as hilly roads and a very interesting landscape.
Some evenings some of us took long walking tours for a couple of hours and the views we got where just godious. At some beaches you'll find some simple but very friendly and cosy small tavernas serving very tasty food. To sit in one of these whatching the sun-set and listening to the waves from the sea was really something of a treat.
From Koukounaries you'll easily catch a local bus, that runs every half hour into Skiathos town. A ride for about half hour. Skiathos town is not very big, but has a lot of good small boutiques and good small restaurants. The harbour hosts a number of fancy private boats as well as a ferry to Skopelos and to the mainland. It was in this very harbour some scenes in the Abba-movie 'Mamma Mia' were recorded.
