Subaru Tree House!

After we drove thru Oregon and past the Jiggles Dancers sign we saw a another sign for congestion...as in traffic.  There was a grocery store.  That was the congestion.  There were 4 buildings in the whole town.

When pulling into California, we were stopped by Ponch and John of the agriculture police.  They asked if we were transporting any cherries....seriously! On the ride to the campground we drove thru the Jebidiah State Forest and were surrounded by Redwoods in the dark.  At the camp, a random cat become our friend.  We shared our scraps with him.

Day 1 - We saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time as we drove into Crescent City, CA.

Brian's new fort.
We hiked Damnation Creek thru the Redwoods to a beautiful beach that looked like One Eyed Willy's ship was about to sail off.  It was foggy and we were scanning the rocks for a pirate ship.  It was great.  The hike back was tough.  This was a switchback trail Grade 6.  This was one of the toughest hikes in the park.  It was worth it and we were beat! We went back to the camp and cooked up some grub.  Fed the cat.  It was freezing!

Day 2 -  We went further down 101 (Redwood Highway) and did the Tour Thru Tree in Klamanth.  It was really cool.  Our car drove thru a redwood. Then we went to the Newton Drury Scenic Highway and saw the Big Tree.  It was the biggest one in that area and over 1,500 years old.

We also went to the Elk(less) prairie.  The ranger did not approve of driving through the redwood.  We picked up some groceries (expensive) and a blanket and headed back to camp to relax. Fed the cat and met a Labradoodle named Lucy who was awesome.  Oh yes, she wil be mine!

Day 3 - Picked up our Big Foot hunting license got some pancakes and headed out towards San Fran.  Before we left, the cat tried to get in my side of the car.  Then he tried to get on Brians side.  We stopped for lunch and met a Ringer.  He was the biggest Lord of the Rings fan.  He was trying to recruit us into his realm, middle earth!  He talked ALOT!  This was in RedCrest, CA population 112 elevation 350!

We kept rolling on in search of Big Foot and the Golden Gate!  The closest I came to seeing a Yeti was Brian with a beard and his shirt off!!!
