We drove for a while from AZ. On the way to UT we went to the Grand Canyon. This is something everyone should see. Yes, it is bigger than you could imagine. Beautiful and colorful and deep. It was 110 and not a dry heat! We did not hike.
Continued onto Kanab and took scenic route 89A. It was a tough rode but well worth it. We saw cliff dwellings. We pulled in to a motel next to a mexican restaurant and bunked in.
The next day we went and had the best breakfast of the trip. It was nothing special, just very good! We went to best friends animal santuary and became members. We walked around for a while and may go back to volunteer this weekend. The place does wonderful things for all kinds of animals, horses, mules, goats, cats, dogs, and bird.
We continued onto a Cave. This used to be a bar. It was 30 degrees cooler in the cave than outside. I wish it still was a bar!!! We looked at fossils and hung out. The temp outside was 106. The people were exteremly nice that owned the place. We continued onto Zion and checked into the bed and breakfast we are staying at, The Under the Eaves Inn. We went big for this part of the trip. We are going to be hiking alot. We are all set up to go tomorrow! Zion is beautiful, we had to drive through a mountain to get here and down many switchbacks. It is well worth it. This is a pcitureseque area of the country.
