We arrived in Paris before 7am! we hopped on the metro and head towards my cousin's apartment. We then set off to the Louvre getting there just before it opened at 9am. We got in quickly and signed up for an english guided tour which hit the highlites of the museum departing at 9:30am. The tour guide did a good job explaining things.. we also beat the crowds to the main attractions. I loved the mona lisa and got to stand in fornt of it for nearly 5 minutes as she spoke in our headset about it and Da Vinci. I also enjoyed seeing the crown jewels. Then we wlaked around ourselves for a long time. I found all the artwork somewhat overwhelming and actually saw enjoyed the architecture of the Louvre as much if not more.
We took a nap on a grassy area after the louvre for an hour before continuing to the Arc de Triumph. To get to it you have to take an undergrad tunnel. There are 12 streets which go into and out of the circle surrounding the arc. It was good to see but not all that interesting to me.
Then we walked to over to the Eiffle tower. I opted for the Elevator to the top even though it was a longer line. Ryan walked up to the 2nd level then took the elevator up to the top. If you have read previous entries of my blog you'll already know I never want to walk up hill let alone stairs when there is another viable option. I wasn't even scared at the top like i thought i would be. It was only 3x higher than my bungy jump! We then went down to the 2nd level and walked around a bit before walking down the rest of the way.
We headed back to the apartment to turn in for the night except for going out to a great gelato place that puts the gelato on a cone to look like a flower.. it was awesome! We went back to this place many times over the next few days.
