Today we started off by renting mopeds and the owner told us some good places to go for nice views. We decided to go one of the routes to Lauterbrunnen which he said had a beautiful waterfall. It took about 10 minutes to get used to riding the moped but then we were fine. In about 45 minutes we reached a town and saw a very high waterfall. We parked the scotters and hiked up a little so we could go under the staubbach falls. Then we headed back to return the mopeds... it was a lot of fun driving them if you have a few hours to spare this is a fun way to spend it. Also the town and views of Lauterbrunnen is spectacular.
Then we headed back to the hostel to put warm clothes on since we were bungy jumping up in the mountains where it is still chilly and calmed our nerves before leaving.
This was our destination, Stockhorn Lake in the alpine peaks of the Simmental valley.
Then they weighed each of us writing our weight and which group we were in on our hand. I was in the first group and so nervous! Then they fitted our harnesses. A backup body harness (incase your feet slip out) and then your ankle harnesses.
14 people got on the gondola and then it kept going up and up and up until it reached 450 feet over the lake. I was so nervous I felt like I had to pee and wouldn't stop talking. I wanted to go asap. The first guy was crazy he had been before and just dropped out backwards.
Then I went 5th by choice... I was talking to Ziggy, the person who hooks you up and all. He told me if I want great photos to go out sideways and look at the camera...
So it was my turn I was standing on the edge and all I thought about was to turn and look to the camera so I can show everyone awesome pictures and additionally do not look down!
Then they counted down 5...4...3...2...1 and I jumped.
I was looking straight out then all the sudden straight down at the lake...It was so scarry I let out a small scream/ahhh to myself. Then I was like, why the hell am I doing tihs... It felt like I fell forever... then I felt the myself slow smoothly from the bungy rope and I started going back up.
I remembered what Ziggy said and tried to turn my body and look up towards the gondola to get another good photo, it was hard to see cause my eyes were watering from the fall. I ended up spinning a bit after the first drop which isn't usual but it made me real dizzy which wasn't comfortable. I got lowered into a small row boat below. Then I watched my friend Ryan go above me. After he got into the boat we were dropped off on shore with such a great adrenalin high. We went back to the platform and waited for the rest of the people go watching them jump.
I recommend anyone doing this just make sure you choose a good company that uses the correct safety precautions.
