If you are traveling with a rail pass... know that Italy has high speed trains you have to pay extra for, only the regional ones are covered with your pass...that go super slow.  We accidentally got on a high speed train and half way to Florence were told we had to pay 35 Euro each... we lied and said we didn't have the money and asked if we could get off at the next stop... the conductor was nice and told us what regional train number to get to Florence.  So we got off and waited about 20 mins for the slow train to get there.  The country side was beautiful unfortunently I was so tired i missed a lot of it!

We stayed at a camp ground in florence overlooking the city.  We stayed in a tent that had 2 cots, no lights.

But it was very cheap about 13 Euro a night each.  We then walked down the street to catch the Hop on - Hop off bus to get us down to the city and show us around some.  After going around for a while we got off to explore some. We walked across the famous bridge which is all jewelry stores selling famous Italian gold.  I was in awe and wanted to stay on that bridge forever... like any other woman.  We watched a soccer game with dinner as usual and got gelato of course.  We then hopped back on the bus to finish the loop back up to our camp ground.  I sprayed myself with bug spray before bed as well as my sheets but still woke up with a bunch of bites.  Not having a light sucks so we went to bed early.  Also if you have allergies, as I do, they are really bad in Florence.
