Day 6 - Fairwell Milan
We awoke fairly early to begin packing and were checked out of the Hotel Arno by 11am. Not before some good banter with the maid and owner regarding the large Jenna Jameson poster we opted to display in our room! Glad they saw the funny side and would recommend the Hotel Arno to everyone, very clean and very helpful.
Our train to Zagreb wasn't departing until night so we still had some time to wander around Milan. With nothing planned for the day we found ourselves looking at beautiful buildings and rather shamelessly, beautiful women. And this wasn't too hard to do as both can be found in Milan in abundance! After a milkshake stop we headed for a look around the Galleria Vittorio which was fairly pleasant and a last look at the Duomo di Milano.
After heading back to the Hotel Arno to pick up our backpacks, we made our way to the station to begin the use of our InterRail passes. Zagreb was our destination with a quick change of train at Venice. As we approached the station we noticed girls handing out free Lipton ice tea at the foot of the station escalator. We grabbed a bottle each before riding the escalator to the top only to be given another bottle at the top! Suffice to say, we went back another 2 times for ice tea and had a healthy quota of 4 bottles each. You gotta do what you gotta do when you're traveling on a budget!
The overnight train ride was fairly smooth despite us sleeping in an upright seat rather than an actually sleeper. I didn't sleep to well but that gave me time to see how many wotsits I could place on Hutch before he woke up.
