Duomo Di Milano

We awoke early and had the usual World Cup chat in the morning before searching for some breakfast. We found a great little supermarket around the corner from the hotel and bought enough Bread, Ham and Cheese for both breakfast and lunch. Fed and watered and stocked up for lunch we headed out to explore Milan.

Heading into the centre we came across an interesting looking museum so we decided to give it a go. It was in fact the Natural History Museum of Milan. We headed inside for a look and to get out of the sun for a while. There were a few good things to see, particularly the Dinosaur section of the museum.

We left the museum and made our way further into the city where it began to get busier and where we saw examples of Milan's famed fashion capital reputation.

Groups of girls dressed as though they had been pulled off the front cover of Vogue passed by with numerous shopping bags and ridiculous sunglasses.

Now in the very centre of the city we made our way to the Duomo di Milano, which was spectacular to say the least. After a few photos of the exterior we headed inside for a look around. The interior was beautiful and quite epic. Couldn't help but think the pillars resembled the ones in the mines of Moria from Lord Of The Rings! The cathedral was undergoing some renovation work but access to the roof was allowed. Luckily we picked a nice clear day so the views of Milan were fantastic. We could even see the San Siro in the distance.

After lunch on the roof of the Duomo di Milano we headed down to the square for a bit more people watching and a milkshake.

We were approached by a group of Africans handing out bracelets for small donations so we got one each and learned they meant "Peace & Love for Africa". Peace and Love eventually become our travel motto and I wore my bracelet for over a year before it came off. Just as Peace and Love was our motto, Love Generation by Bob Sinclar became the song of the trip. It followed us everywhere!

Next we sought out postcards and I got a nice one of the pope for my Glasgow Rangers loving mate back home. A quick visit to the Di Vinci monument later and we were heading home with plans to sit in with beers and a take away pizza whilst watching the Germany vs Costa Rica game. There really was nothing like a few Peroni's and Pizza. When in Rome....
