Today was spent in a very sombre mood despite the French celebrating Bastille Day, with the highlight being a fireworks display on the beach. However, we had a couple of chores to attend to first. We had the task of booking our ferry tickets for tomorrow, and this simple task soon became a complete mission.

Our main problem was the fact that in was Bastille Day. The public transport didn't run today because of the national holiday and taxis were also no existent. This forced us to make a massive walk to the ferry terminal, across parts of Calais that one wouldn't consider sights worth seeing. Upon finally arriving at the terminal, after a good few wrong turns, we got our tickets easily enough, and luckily found a shuttle bus was running to take us back to town.

We whittled away the afternoon wandering about, with a little church we saw being the only sight of note. The day whizzed past, and after a game of crazy golf, in which Dave got his revenge, we headed to watch the fireworks display at the beach. The display wasn't anything spectacular but was nice all the same.

Our last night of the expedition was spent consuming a few beers before we headed to bed, and inevitably, the next morning, where we would begin the final leg of our adventure...
