Our sightseeing commenced with a visit to the Notre Dame cathedral, a Roman Catholic cathedral and basilica. The building was quite charming, as one end was quite modern and yet the other end was old and gothic. Next up for the culture vultures was the Art Museum of Lille. The museum showcased some interesting stuff, from Greek sculptures to modern art displays, and was something different to all the museums we had visited already.
The culture fix was over for the day and we now had the chore of finding an Internet cafe to make plans for our next leg of the journey. You would think in a city as big as Lille that finding a cafe would be easy but we searched for an hour without any luck. So we decided to go back to our hotel and ask there, only to find that an Internet cafe was situated right next to our hotel! Typical! After a brief discussion and a few games of pool we opted to visit Brussels.
We saw out the day with a horrible dinner of Carbonara, and the heavens decided to open on us as we sat and ate outside! Wet and weary, we made our way back to the hotel to watch some TV. The football had finished now though, so we really were at a loss!
