Day 14 - 27 Hour Train Journey

We fell out of our bunks at about 11am and did a quick pack as we were running late for our train to Budapest. We had missed breakfast as well and left the hostel hungry and said our goodbye's to some of our single serving party buddies from the night before. It was a quick dash to the train station via McDonalds.
At the station we had a bit of trouble. The ticket price we were quoted the other day was now more expensive but we just had to pay it and get on our way. They must have seen us coming. After that a fairly scruffy local literally grabbed our bags from us as we sorted our tickets and insisted he carry them for us to the train. We refused but he persisted and with time running out we just had to let him to save missing our train. After carrying a couple of lightweight bags to the train for us the inevitable donation was demanded by the gypsy. We gave him what we had and he quickly left the train, moaning about how little we had given him, when actually it was a fair amount for the little actual work he did.
We had an 18 hour train ride ahead of us and so decided to catch some sleep to start with before killing the time with cards and World Cup chat. We also did a heap of top 5's. This ranged from Films and Albums to Sauces and Cheese! The rest of the journey was spent watching the countryside go by. It was beautiful and made the first leg of the train ride quite bearable. As the light faded, we climbed into our sleepers and fell asleep, hoping to wake up the next day at Budapest station.....
