Lots of miles today

Up nice and early today after a good rest. We were showered and dressed and repacked for the day and went up to the office for the continental breakfast. Hard boiled egg, banana, a sweet roll, coffee and orange juice. Nothin special, but enough to say we had something to eat. So we were on the road by about 8:40 a.m..
We were in Salt Lake City by 10:50 and I nearly missed my GPS directions to get off the I-80 for a few miles and take what it felt was a better and easier way. Turned out just fine and we also stopped there the fill up our tank again. All together we stopped three times for gas today. I know you are saying, "Hey, I thought that little car got good mileage?" Well, it does, but it only holds a little over ten gallons and I hate driving with only a quater tank, especially out here where it can be a hundred miles between gas stations.
We stopped in Rock Springs for lunch and got Arby's again. It's been awhile since we've had them and they tasted so good yesterday we found one agin today. :)
Our ride was doing so well today that we thought we'd try and push a little further east than planned, so we went on from our planned stop in Rawlins to Laramie, Wyoming, which was about another hundred miles. Oh, we had a little rain, a little snow, and some good winds, but the road was clean and clear all the way and even over the summits of several hills we didn't need to chain up or worry much about ice.
As we approached Laramie along the side of the highway we started seeing deer, elk, and pronghorn. Not just a few but lots. They were spread out over a very long distance and not in a herd like we expected but a few here and several there and a bunch at the next area. It was amazing to see so many within our viewing range. Judy even got several pictures out the window of the car while we sped along at 75 mph, but you ceratinly don't get the picture of how many we saw!
So we pulled into Laramie a little after 6 p.m. and checked into the Best Western. After checking in we went across the freeway to the Iron Skillet, which is a restaurant in the Truck stop. Good food, lots of it, and a very fair price.
