Kairaku-en: Clouds on the Trees
Hiromi, Jana, Beth, and I went to Mito because Jana and Beth had to go the International Office to have some paper work done. Before that, however we went to Kairaku-En, which is one of the three most famous parks in Japan. It has over one-thousand plum blossom trees. According to the park information, the ninth Lord of Mito (Nariaki Tokugawa) built the park. The name of the park Kairaku translates to “share pleasures with people”.
We were lucky because the trees were blooming…I have never seen anything so wonderful in my entire life. All of the trees looked like they had purple, pink, and white clouds floating above them. The trees were amazing and they were everywhere. I had a wonderful time walking around the park and looking at the blossoms. I love Mito because it is a beautiful city and the park made me love the city even more.
