rainy travel day

As it was a work day, the workers got the first showers and then we got ready and packed up. I was leaving today and Miwako was bringing me to Shinagawa Station to meet my relatives for the next journey. Her mother made me a banana smoothie for breakfast (with cabbage and olive oil) - it is supposed to be really good for you and I only tasted the banana. Miwako had natto - which is fermented soybeans, mixed with raw egg, over rice. I opted out of that one. I guess raw eggs are safe to eat over here, but I didn't want to risk it with a long train ride ahead of me. After that, we stepped out into the POURING rain and walked a half block to catch a cab.
It took forever to get to the train station.
We were taking the bullet train (Shinkansen) to Kyoto for a couple days, then on to Hiroshima for a couple of days. My cousin Linda had set everything up for us and I was happy I didn’t have to do much more than follow along and pay my way. The train ride was about 1.5-2 hours to Kyoto and Linda and I spent most of it talking. It was really gloomy outside with rain, low clouds, and fog. We couldn’t see much of the scenery.
