Italo & Nina at their best
When the time came to say good-bye and everybody clambered onto the Auschwitz express, we felt sad but also very smug, because we were staying on to spend a few days at a luxury resort, Laguna Blue run by the dive instructors Italo and Nina whom we liked very much and that had promised us a special volunteer-rate at their beautiful place.

We were elated. Hot Water! Italian food! 85HP dive boats! Italo and Nina were incredible. They lent us their quad with which we whizzed over to Coco Beach to see our Blue Ventures friends, took us diving and ran after humpback whales on the way. We saw a threesome, one of which was a juvenile showing off, He was hurling his enormous body out of the water to show us his white belly and was splashing about for a full fifteen minutes ten meters from the boat while we stood awestruck - of course without functioning camera.

Italo and Nina fed us Italian foods three courses a meal three meals a day until I got so fat my thighs rubbed against each other and became quite sore while walking in the midday heat. They invited us to their table, which we shared with an Italian dentist and his wife. The dentist, Leopoldo, was working as a consultant to the new hospital the owner of Laguna Blue was having built. He was also treating the local people, who after hearing there was a doctor at Laguna Blue flocked to him with all ailments imaginable. Bashed-in skulls, torn testicles, burns and even the odd tooth ache. He was full of hilarious stories, and we all spent our evenings chuckling into our pasta, My favorite was his impersonation of a college friend’s appearance after consuming various medicines and other poisons in whatever manner assured to be producing narcotic side-effects,
