Back to Maputo

Otherworldy
The agent who picked up the car the next morning –blissfully unaware of the hardship we had put it through- dropped us off in town, where we ran a few errands and then got on a minibus to bring us right back to Maputo. How much easier it was to travel without all that baggage! In Maputo we had a lovely walk through a new park by the water and a very nice dinner in a small restaurant where we listened to some Mozambican music, which was so pretty that we subsequently sought out and bought the CD. This quest brought us to some new neighborhoods we had not yet seen the following day. We also had a great breakfast at a Lebanese deli where the owner was delighted to have the chance to speak French with Arnaud. We learned a lot about running a small business in Mozambique, none of it too easy. Random fines, enforced bribes, sky high utility bills… no picnic for sure. After buying some provisions to take to the country with us, we packed tight and turned in.
