SO we were lucky enough to escape the blackhole that is gayndah for at least a weekend. Anzac Holiday Weekend provided aus with a perfect three day escape. So we decided we'd take advantage of it by heading to Elliot Heads in Bundaberg. Randomly at the same time I got a call from mum and dad saying they had the weekend off as well and were going to come up and see us, so we all decided to meet in Bundy and stay at Elliot Heads for the weekend.

But as usual none of our trips even small ones can go by without some sort of little drama. Saturday morning, Dan and I leave Gayndah to head for Bundy, everything's going great. Then not an hour out of gayndah, "BANG!!!!" "What was that?" Dan says, "Just a blow tire", I say strangely calm and collected (weirdly enough when I thought about it later and said so to Dan, i didn't even flinch when the tire blew???? Cool as a cucumber or what! :P) So our very first flat tire, and we did a good job of it.
The river looks a bit surreal with those clouds.
Ripped the thing to shreds. But not only the first flat tire for the van, but also for Dan and I to change one. We were, as I said to Dan, Tire Virgins and had just popped our seals, literally. :P

Coincidentally though we found out there were some lovely country people about. As we had six people stop to see if we needed a hand, including a couple on a motorbike, which I thought slightly humorous. Such nice people. But anywho, after that little drama the trip was great. We caught up with mum and dad at the caravan park, which was actually my personal favourite. Went out to dinner at the local bowls club, which was serving home cooked meals until the uber-late time of 7:30pm. Spent the next day wandering, at first just down the Elliot Heads river, then went out to Monropoe beach were we just strolled down, talking about old holidays and staring at the crazy incredible patterns in the sand. Then after a late lunch, mum and dad went home, and the next day after a little shopping down town, Dan and I headed back to the irrepressible hole that is gayndah. But I guess as the say, we should be thankful for small pleasures.
