The Monmarte mission

Following lunch we decide to stroll to the canal to soak up the atmosphere. The banks of the canal are stacked with people having their lunch, having a drink or generally just sitting and reading while the world happens around them. The canal is horrifically dirty and to witness people with their feet in the water makes me shudder.
We jump on the metro to head to the Sacre Coeur. We walked up the hill then all the way up the stairs. Performers singing and dancing on different levels of the stair case. The atmosphere was lively and the dancers entertaining. The views are stunning from this point and the amount of people is astonishing. We walked through the village part along the cobbled roads. It is all down hill so a pair of heels and slippery cobbles are not a great combination at all.
Pigalle is our next stop just so we can view the Moulin Rouge from the exterior and witness the sex shops along the road. I would have liked to maybe go and see the show but the prices were just too extortionate.
Too much walking around for one day. We decide to head back to the flat recharge and then ascend to the top of the Eiffel tower for the night time views.
Fail. Too tired. No Eiffel tower trip tonight.
