"Estudio del "Dormitorio" de Vincent Van Gogh" (pen & colored pencils)

Van Gogh was crazy and amazing.  His art is extremely inspiring.  He painted in the mid to late 1800's and died too young.  Most of his famous works were created during the last two years of his life.  His was a life starting with promise and slowly migrating towards poverty in pursuit of artistic creation.

This was my first Van Gogh painting I had attempted to recreate.  "Bedroom in Arles" (English version).  I recreated others since such as The Church at Auvers" but this was my first and I still have it hanging in my office.

I did so with colored pencils and it is about 16 CM by 17 CM.  it was also one of the first pieces that I had done in color.  Prior to this I mosted had worked in pencils, ink and charcoal.

The original painting from Van Gogh can be found in the Van Gogh Museum naturally in The Netherlands.

Thank you, Annie-Marie. I was able to see some more of his work last year at the MET. It never gets old. Thanks again!

When I was in Paris a couple of weeks ago I went to Musee D'Orsy. After years of looking at prints and photo's, I finally could see a real painting of Van Gogh. You used great colors. Great blog by the way.
