the train
December 15, 2006
from morretes startes the famous
panorama train to curitiba, if someone in brasil talkes about a train
it would be that one! i came to morretes via paranagua, where i arrived
from ilha do mel. in paranagua there is also a train to curitiba, but
that one didn't run that day, so i had to get to the rodoviaria to come
to morretes by bus, a small city bus that wasn't considert to use with
a lot of luggage!
the town of morretes is very small, there is one "old" church to see and i guess that's it! but the trainstation has its charm with an old waiting hall made out of wooden benches well i had plenty of time to staire at them!
before the train startes you have the chance to buy some typical crackers made out of varios vegetables: mandioca, banana, . ...
everyone told me that i have to buy a ticket to sit on the right side, but because they ticketseller hasn't jet a computer they could just sell tickets in chronological order, that ment that i didn't get a seat at the right side, which didn't matter cause they were plenty of seats left so i could change, complicated brasilians!!
the ride was beautiful, the countryside was really pretty, eventhough the weather wasn't nice, so i got to see the canyons with a sugarcane, may-be thats why, or just because i just saw the amasing canyons in cambara do sul that i wasn't that impressed, so i consider if you plan to see both, start with the panorama train, cause it is really pretty not that expensive and easy to find, when you start from curitiba!
