it never rains in bahia
well, to praia do forte i planned just to go for 2 nights, but i stayed a whole week!
the bus from salvador takes just about 2 hours, so very close (for a swiss that a lot!), i first checked in in the HI hostel, my guide wrote that it's one of the most beautiful ones in brazil, and it was right! tiny rooms but with nice bathrooms inside the rooms, and this beautiful court yard with hammocks surrounded, just perfect!
it wasn't dark jet but already late so i had a quick  turn a round the small village, there were plenty of very exclusive and beautiful hotel around, but no roof was taller than the highest palm tree (thats in the law of that place!) so it didn't look like other holiday recourses! the village was tiny but kind of charming, it was definitely a calm place to stay!
next day i went to the beach, but that beach was very different than any i'd seen before, there were big corrals coming up above the sea level and they built tiny natural pools with very warm and low water! that was certainly something else! on the beach i met an english girl from my room (one of the most mad travelers i've ever met, she has been everywhere!) so we spent a nice day on the beach trying to get brown without burning! after that rush of sun we went back to the village to get something for lunch, but not just something, we got acai! a frozen amazonas berry compot with bananas (or pine apples) and granola (roasted muesli!) what a great thing to eat, we liked it so much that we continued to have acai every day! any way i liked that calm and quiet place so much i decided to stay for a whole week! (because there was this other girl, jane in my room who's birthday was to come and we made big plans to celebrate it! we all (all of my roommates) got in to daily habits, like what time we got up and what we cooked for dinner together and on and on! just calm and relaxed! and we enjoyed the local body culture, if you haven't seen it you'd not believe it, every man and boy has a six pack! not that this is very important, but because there was not one local man without, it kind of stuck in the eye! (so we now know why this beach is called praia do forte= beach of strength)
during this week, jane and i got ourself our nails done, by a local lady, she took her time and spent about 1 and a half hour for each of us! but it was very cheap and her daughter made us fresh umbu juice from her garden! and in the back there was this man climbing and cutting palm trees with flip flops on, we really felt like in paradise! anyway this place felt so safe that you'd easily forget all your brazilian worries (to get robbed or raped any time)!
it seems weird but i didn't manage to see the turtle observatory, although i had plans to see it from the first day, but i saw a huge wild turtle running towards the sea (this place is famous for its environmentally way to host tourists and its big turtle resort!)
towards the end we all continued working on that birthday party plans, jane's wish was to eat cake and have fireworks and bubbles on the beach, i took control of the cake, the bubbles were easily found but the firework sort of didn't work! even the local fireworks lady ran out of fireworks, so we got very creative and threw cinnamon over burning toilette paper! well there wasn't much sparkle with that version, but it was fun to do and we felt really innovative! my cake turned out really good, although i had to be very innovative with the ingredients as well! so we had a really fun night! when we headed back to the hostel we saw some incredible dancing in one of those small streets! it wasn't forro, some other dance, just stunning to watch!
next day i had to return back to salvador, to go up towards recife, because there was no direct way from praia do forte! me and an other english girl took a private vw bus, cause the officials were already gone, that bus driver was complete insane! i guess he was a big fan of senna! so he managed to get us there, with about hundred stops to get more and more people in, in not even half the time an official was would take!
