porto alegre
November 27, 2006
my stay in porto alegre was very short, i arrived there after a 15 hours bus-journey from foz do iguaƧu, the man who sold me the busticket told me that it was just an 8 hour trip (what a liar). but i was kind of glad, that way i didn't arrived in the middle of the night. in porto alegre does not have a hostel jet, so i had to stay in a hotel, i found a cheap one close to the rodoviaria, but in a hotel you just never get to now other people, so i had to plan my two days on my own. the first day i just wondert around the old part which was very close, i went to the mercado municipal and bought a very cool bag (not a handbag!) for just 5 r$! close the the mercado there were a couple of nice museums that were all free, so i was busy for the afternoon, in the evening i went the the cinema (something i always do when i'm on my own, not know what to do!) the cinema was in a very special buliding and they playd just independent films, i was impressed! i watched an italian film with portuguese subtitles, and i did understand although i don't speak italian! after the film ended, i was glad to get to the hotel quikly because the streets got very crowded and i felt a bit unsave
next day i went on the tourist bus (i didn't knew anything else to do) with me on the bus a whole scool from some smaler town in rio grande do sul, they were excited about everything they saw, although the weather was not nice at all, the tour went about 2 hours (i don't remember that presicely) i just saw that there wasn't that much the see, even there some nice buildings. after that trip i walked along the "beach", it is no real one and not really nice eather! some parts were even closed because of danger of electricity!
so i bought fast the next ticket to get away.
