After a late lunch we decided to move on and try another beach. We headed towards Diamond Head and Kahala and stopped at Waialae Beach Park. The seaside suburb of Kahala is home to many of Honolulu´s wealthiest residents and the island´s most exclusive resort hotel. The costal road, Kahala Ave, is lined with expensive waterfront homes that block out virtually any ocean view. In between the mansions, a half dozen shoreline access points provide public right-of-way to the beach. I must admit that Waialae Beach Park did not become my favorite beach. At first glance it looks nice, but the beach has very grainy sand with lots of broken shells and coral. It was also extremely windy there. Not very comfortable if you just want to lay out on the beach, but excellent for all the guys that were kiting. The park has picnic tables, toilets and showers.
