This was already our last complete day in Istanbul. Today we went to another company: the Hrant Dink Foundation. Hrant Dink was an Armenian man, murdered in 2007. The people at the foundation told us about the relationship between Turks and Armenians and about the genocide. They have their own weekly newspaper with a great part in Turkish, but also a small part in Armenian language, because not everybody can read Armenian. It was an interesting story.
This afternoon we would have some free time. So we decided to go to the basilica cistern, because we heard this was really beautiful. Some people were calling it 'the under water palace'. It is indeed nice to see so many pillars in a layer of water, lighted by red lamps. But you've seen it quite quick because it's the same everywhere ;).
As closing off the study trip we went with the complete group to a turkish teahouse a few meters further on. After having a hot chocolate we decided to go again. It was cold over there and it smelled (of course because of the smoke of the waterpipes, but if you don't like that... ;))
We went back to our hostel and packed our bags and got some sleep.
The next day started at 5.30, we got breakfast om 6.00, and got picked up by our touringcar who brought us to the airport. Everything went fine and we came home safely. tired and satisfied, it was a great trip!
