Today we had to do some study related activities, after all it's a study tour. So today we were going to visit a private university: the Bahçesehir University. When we arrived, a guy who has lived in the Netherlands showed us around. It is a nice university with a great view. They have two pavement cafés with a beautiful view over the Bosporus. A funny detail: some students go to school by boat! After that we went to a classroom filled with Apple computers (unfortunately only half were working). Of course we weren't there to sit behind a computer, we were having a guest class about word and image. It was very interesting. After that class we went to the the lunchroom at the terrace of the university and had lunch in the sun with a great view over the bosporus.
Then the touringcar picked us up again and we went to a marketing company called Euro Message. Because we were with a group of 50 people we couldn't go inside all together so we were divided in 3 groups. I was in the last group so we had some time to walk around in the city and do some shopping. When it was our time to go into the office we first got a presentation from 2 women of the company about the company and what they were doing. They told what a digital agency does and about their content management systems. The visit ended with a small tour through the company.
After the company visit the touringcar dropped us at the Grand Bazaar. This is a really really huge complex with many many small shops. We had some time to look around and buy some things if we wanted. I bought some apple tea and a turkish teaset. You can't see prices, everywhere you have to ask what the costs of a product are. And then you have to bargain to get a good price. This is how it works over there and they are almost insulted if you don't bargain. The people are kind of obtrusive over there. But it's how it works and you get used to it. You just have to accept it because otherwise you'll have a bad week in Turkey.
In the evening we went out for dinner with the four of us in a small restaurant. We had to wait quite long for our food but it tasted good.
