All through the night I kept looking out of the window, checking the sky. Early morning the skies started to clear and it looked promising. Got out of the bed by 5:30am and by 6:30 we were packed and ready to go to the airport. Around 7am the first flight announcement came and slowly the sun came out, no sign of clouds. We kept our fingers crossed for more flights announcements. One by one more and more flights started to come in, picked the passengers and within 10 min would fly out. The airlines wanted to clear as much backlog as possible and soon we got our flight schedule, the 3rd one.
So it was more nervous wait but fortunately the weather was good today, sun shining brightly. The trekkers who were coming in were also relieved to reach Lukla to start there treks, they too were stranded in Kathmandu waiting for the flights. Our flights came in and we dashed out the gates, boarded the planes and have a huge sigh of relief. The flight back was just 25 min and before we knew we landed in Kathmandu after waiting for flights in Lukla for 2 days. My guide was also happy, he was going back to meet his family. We got a taxi back to Thamel and were relieved to be back safe and sound. Although I was not able to reach Gokyo lakes and cross the pass I was happy with my trek and promised myself to come back next near and try this same route again.
