Welcome sight after eating potatoes for 10 days.
Today we were contemplating to walk to Lukla directly, it would be a long walk but since it’s relatively flat, thought might give it a try. We started descending Namche Hill, passed the Everest view point and before we knew we were down beside the river. From here me and my guide had a contest going, trying to cross everyone who was ahead of us. If it meant walking fast or even running, we did that. We had fun running on the suspension bridge as it was shaking quite a bit. Couple of other trekkers, there guides and porters also joined the fun and before we knew we had every one walking fast and running on the trail. We crossed green fields and saw some cauliflowers which was definitely a welcome sight after eating potatoes through most of the trek.

Finally reached the Sagarmatha entry/exit gate, entered our names and after a quick tea break we were on the way again. The return journey was full of fun, playing with the local kids, dancing and fooling on the path, taking funny pictures, all the while almost running on the path overtaking other trekkers. All this took a toll on the stamina and soon we were gasping for breath, so started taking it a bit slow, regular rests and soon we reached Phakding. The clouds had started to gather and it was getting cold so we decided to stop at Phakding, we were really glad we did. It started drizzling and soon the rain poured down. All the other folks that had continued towards Lukla would be having a tough time in the rain and cold. Everyone was scattering around trying to find the first available lodge to get out of the rain. We decided to spend the night here and continue to Lukla tomorrow. Spent the evening talking to other trekkers, exchanging stories and after dinner retired back to the room. The rain started again and since my room was on the top floor, the roof was making a loud noise but still I was able to get some good sleep.
