Renfe rocks!

After turning in our rental car in Sevilla we hopped an AVE train to Madrid. The Renfe is the Spanish rail company and they have slower trains and the AVE trains which rarely stop and speed between Madrid and several other cities. The trip from Sevilla to Madrid was just slightly over 2 hours on the AVE train and it was a great trip! The trains are beautiful, very clean and comfortable and they have wait staff and free movies. It was a lovely trip by train and after our flight on Vueling I may have to consider traveling only by train in the future!

We arrived in Madrid and checked into our hotel and went in search of some dinner and to get ourselves oriented. After wandering a bit we found a busy place and sat down to eat. We sat outside intentionally, knowing that we might not get the full tapas experience and had some calamari and a few tapas. When the bill came we saw that we had to pay an extra fee for sitting outside...oh well, we knew when we sat there that the prices might be different.

We were still exploring and as we wandered we saw another bar and went in and discovered that it was full of football fans watching the King´s Cup game between Atletico de Madrid and Sevilla. All of the fans were local AT Madrid fans and we joined in as fans and cheered the team, who unfortunately fell to Sevilla 2-0. It was a fun atmosphere being in Spain in a sports bar watching the championship with local fans!
