Yellow Dahlia ... Dinner Plate .... called Kalvin Floodlight ....
We are still taking care of the Sequoia Park Garden Dahlia Garden. It's so beautiful!!!! We have bought about 40 plants for three years and taken out old plants and replaced them with new. The result is a huge group of new and exciting blooms. Some of the bulbs we bought were only supposted to be 3 feet or so but grew over 5 feet tall. It's a really exciting year. We are really happy to see how beautiful it is. ..... We feel like it's the best year ever!
One thing we found out that saddened us is that the Sequoia Park Zoo plans on taking the garden area to put in prairie dogs. We are against this .... not only because there are other areas for them but because the dahlia garden is a huge 1/2 acre area that is free ..... during the summer we estimate there are over 150 people per day visiting. On Trip advisor it is listed as the #2 attraction of the area.
We really hope we can change the master plan and save the gardens ..... We don't feel Eureka would or could benefit from taking out this beautiful attraction.
