Lena & Lola at the Metro stop in New Carrollton waiting for the train to take us to DC
After getting home so late last night, I was surprised I woke up at 7:00am, but that's me! The girls got up around 8:00, and I started fixing breakfast; bacon, sausage, cubed potatoes fried in olive oil, toast, and omelets, while Lena fixed coffee and prepped some fresh fruit.
After we were stuffed from breakfast, and chatted a bit while we finished our coffee, it was time to head back to D.C. and meet up with the other TravBuddies.
We arrived at the meeting place just outside the Smithsonian Metro stop just minutes before the scheduled 12:00pm meeting time, and no one there yet. Just a few minutes went by and we saw Ian and Jenn walking up. The rest of the group was behind them, but with the large number of people there, it's hard to stay together.
Lena, Jenn, Ian & Lola waiting for the rest of the group to arrive.
Finally, around 12:30, we were all together and headed towards the Tidal Basin which it where most of the Cherry Trees are located. The weather today was going to be perfect, sunny, a slight breeze and in the low 80's, warm for this time of year here.
We knew we would have a hard time staying together, especially with everyone stopping to take pictures regularly, so Ian said we would all meet up again at the steps of the Jefferson Memorial. Most of us seemed to stick together, but a few wondered off on their own.
Once at the Jefferson Memorial, the group was all back together. We sat on the steps in the shade and rested a bit before deciding what to do next. It was now close to 3:00 pm and everyone was hungry, so we decided to have lunch at Gordon Biersch.
It was now that Mike called and said he was just now getting off the Metro stop at the Smithsonian...he was up till the early hours of the morning parting with some new friends at his hotel evidently! Ian decided to go meet up with Mike and lead him to the restaurant, while the rest of us headed straight there. Turns out Ian and Mike beat us there, along with LJ and his friend...sorry, forgot his name. We waited outside for about 30 minutes or so before we were all seated in three booths all next to each other. Lunch was yummy, and the garlic fries were amazing!
After everyone had there fill, we all separated, some going back to their hotels to freshen up, nap or just relax before tonight's activities begin. Since Lola, Lena and I didn't have time to go back to Annapolis, then back into Dc, the girls decided to check out the H&M store nearby.

It didn't take long for 7:00pm to creep up on us, so we headed to tonight's meet-up location, Lucky Strike Bowling which was just around the corner from Gordon Biersch. The three of us found a place at the bar, and I checked out the procedure for getting a lane for us to bowl for the night. The place was busy, and I was told we could get a lane now, or come back after the rest of the group arrived. I didn't want to get a lane this early and just sit on it for that long so we waited at the bar for a few more people to show up. Beside, the Washington Capitals Hockey game was on and we were watching that on one of big screens at the bar! :) GO CAPS!!!
Slowly everyone else showed up, we all hung out at the bar while we waited for a bowling lane to open up. Ian had to leave, but the rest of us spent the night bowling until close to 1:00am. It was now time for Lola, Lena and I to head back to Annapolis. WOW, what a long day, but it was great fun!!! Finally we arrived back home in Annapolis around 2:30am and went straight to bed. Five hours of sleep and we will do this one more time! :)
