6.8.10 Nacogdoches, TX to Jacksonport State Park, AK

Early to bed, early to rise, makes happy RV’ers, who enjoy their lives!

Yahoo! - on the road by 8am with easy traffic.

Driving day today- north.

The “best food in the universe” since 1931 at Bryce’s Cafeteria in Texarkana for lunch was delicious- very nice people and good home cooking.  We were sadly a week too early for their famous peach pie, but I assure you that we did not go hungry.  http://www.brycescafeteria.com/

About an hour north of Little Rock, AK is the delightful riverfront Jacksonport State Park with beautiful 20-site campground under huge shade trees.  $24 electric and water, and we were happy clams arriving at 4:45pm.

It has been intensely hot since home- heat indexes around 100.  Upon arrival, we peeled off sticky clothes for bathing suits.  The White River is wide and smooth – we see it from Ciao’s big windows.  Trotted over to the beach area and dunked ourselves in the icy waters.  Ahhhh….

Showers, a simple dinner, long call to Ned, reading and writing, and time for bed.

Tomorrow's goal:  St. Louis in time to enjoy the Gateway Arch and a Mississippi paddleboat.

But if we were to get stranded here for a few days, that would be okay too.
