Trying to cheat the weather in Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden Travel Blog › entry 10 of 10 › view all entries

Due to brief illness, 12 days of rain, and restrictions on travel to Eastern countries, my grand adventure turned into something quite different than I expected, and better than I had planned. Places visited: Munstermaifeld, Wiesbaden, Trier, and Luxembourg.

Trying to cheat the weather in Wiesbaden

The capital of the state of Hessen, my home state in Germany.  As with most German cities, it was occupied by the Romans and still has remnants of Roman architecture.  As it includes the name "Bad," this signifies that it has natural healing springs that fortify the town and its people.  These have been in use since Roman times and were first mentioned in Pliny the Elder's Naturalis Historia.
