Pompei with Mt. Vesuvius
I woke up and finalized my packing, took a shower, and headed down to my first descent breakfast of the trip. I had bread, ham, cheese, egg whites, and cereal. After breakfast we loaded up the bus and headed to Pompei. We arrived in Pompei around 10:00am and took a tour of the ancient ruins. The tour included an old gladiator training center, an old ampitheatre, the baths, an example of a house, and the highlight an original sundial. After the tour we had som free time where I took some good pictures of the site and Mt. Mosuvius, one of three active volcanos in Italy. After we were done in the site we came down and got some pizza and lemonade, both some of the best I have ever had. After lunch we loaded up the bus and and headed from the west coast of Italy in Pompei to the east coast of Italy in Bari
An original sun dial
It took us about four hours to go from one side of Italy to the other. We arrived in Bari around 4:00pm and loaded up on an overnight ferry that would take us to Patras, Greece. We got to our cabin and it was two sets of bunkbeds and a little bathroom. After I put my bags in my room, I headed down to eat dinner, where I had some sort of hamburger and a really good dessert. After dinner we went out on the deck and watched one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. Most of us stayed up and had a blast, some probablly had to much fun. I stayed up with Jeff from Colorado and made sure that his girls got to bed. After we got the girls to bed, I stayed up talking to Andrea, Liz, and Nathan until this drunk Englishman started talking to Liz. Then there was a drunk Canadian who had the drunk Englishman audition for American Idol. I must say it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. After all of this comedy I finally went to bed aroound 3:00am.
