I still don't know what a "cinque port" is.
Heh, took a while
Sandwich. No cheese, no ham, no pickle. But there is a hotel and it is called The Bell. The hotel was a real humdinger.  A young lady and I rocked up at around 7.30 on Saturday afternoon.  "Yes, we have a room, sir.  Would you like a discount?" Oh yeah!  So we got £100 love palace and by Jiminy, it is a damn fine place.

And there are some rickety old houses that squat next to narrow roads which congregate next to the river. We wandered around looking at at wooden gables and french doors on the second floors of houses.  Although Zoe wasn't convinced, the Spanish restaurant we went to did cater for gay people - no-one can be that camp and have a rainbow flag outside. It is simply not viable. Fabulous food, excellent service.  Good work chaps.

Oh, and it has history.

I've had a look now and a cinque port would seem to be one that is part of a loose confederation developed in the 11th century.  That. my friends, is real history. Now, they are just full of rich peoples' yachts.  And why not, this is England, we do rich rather well.

They had a 10k run finishing on the Sunday morning.  Glad we had a car.
