Bored on the train

Trained to Rome and found our hotel.  We took the metro and got off at the Coliseum!  It was my first time and simply stunning!  We later walked around to see some major sites.  We went to Castel de san Angelo, The Vatican, the Pantheon, and Arch of Constantine.  We ate at a great restaurant in Piazza Navona.  This piazza was used in Angels and Daemons!  They really wanted our business and gave us free champagne!  When we left we were nearly hit by the Pope’s motorcade as he was giving a speech somewhere in the city.  Our room is quite nice.

SO today we woke up early and got on a train to Roma.  Our first train was late so we almost missed our second one, but then that was late too so we made both our trains!  We arrived at our B & B Flavius around 3pm.

It is located a 10 minute walk south of the Coliseum.  The room is nice with A/C and a private bath with plenty of space for two people, the pillow is hard though and so is the bed.

Once we arrived in Rome we rested for a while because it was hot!  We then metroed over to St. Peters to take a look and headed to Castel San’t Angelo, Derek’s favorite building!  We walked around that and then headed to the Pantheon!  I love the Pantheon, it is soo huge and the circle was way bigger than I remember.  We were then hungry and decided to eat in Piazza Navona.  The food was decent but awful expensive, they did give each of us a glass of champagne.

Today, just a block from our hotel, the Pope spoke.  We saw all the people arriving for the sermon and then later we saw the Pope brigade rush by including a van full of army men and an ambulance along with like 20 other cars.
