Nazy Party Rally Grounds
Today we got up and headed to the Hauptbahnhof to get a train to Nuremberg. We took a little longer than expected and arrived at Nuremberg at 11. We headed straight for the Nazi exhibit and walked through the main museum there. The museum was awesome and had tons of good and new information. Unfortunately when we ventured out to see the actual rally grounds we found them being used for many different things. They don’t seem to be keeping them up. Part of the rally grounds had been blown up in the 60s.
Later we toured the squares and checked out some of the shops. We then ate at a sausage restaurant that was awesome! Lindy said it was her best German meal so far!
Today we decided to take a day trip to Nurnberg.
This is where the headquarters of the Nazi Party was. We first headed to the Reichsparteitagsgelande aka The Nazi Party Rally Grounds. These are about 4kim outside the city center and it is huge! We started out with the museum there that was really good and informative and we spent 3 hours in there. We then ate lunch there and went to walk around the grounds. We saw the Congress Hall, Zepplinfield, and Great Road. The Zepplinfield really surprised us, it is used for concerts and races and part had even been knocked down and it was not taken care of at all which baffled us and was kind of frustrating as it is an important piece of history. After this we went back into the Alstadt (old town) where we wandered through and saw the castle and churches and went into a few shops. I bought a Christmas ornament that says Nuremberg and has a city scene! Then we ate sausages at a well known traditional sausage place and they were amazing! Then we trained back to Munich
and both called our fathers to wish them a Happy Father’s Day a day early, they both seemed to appreciate it too! :)
