Today we took a 10:00 am train to Koln for our last full day in Europe. We had a small run in with the Deutsche Bahn people, they for some reason thought our Euro Rails were not enough. We have not had any other problems this whole month with them. They let us pass through and we arrived a little after 1. We then checked in to our Ibis which happened to be attached to the Hauptbahnhof. We first then visited the Dom, which is huge! It is Germany’s largest church and is in Gothic style. This is probably Germany’s best church and was a great end to the trip. We proceeded down the streets and stopped in a few tourist shops, but didn’t find anything. There was a great antique coin shop that had marks and iron crosses from the 30s and 40s, but they were far too expensive.
We then headed for the chocolate museum, a must see for Lindy. We bought a few pieces and head back to the Rhine river. We stayed on the side of the river for a while, and then headed back to our hotel.
P.S. Today was Lindy and I’s 1 month anniversary!
Today is our last day in Europe. We slept in a bit and took the 10:30 train to Cologne. We arrived around lunch and checked into our Ibis hotel. We can see the Cologne Dom from our window! It is a nice room too with free internet. We then headed out to go into the Dom. The place is huge with really big stained glass windows. The outside is really amazing but there isn’t much in the inside except the windows and church structure. After a bit of time in the Dom we walked along the river to the Chocolate Museum where we got to see chocolate being produced and try some free chocolate from a fountain, it was pretty awesome! After this we headed back to our hotel, relaxed, and then ate our last dinner at McDonalds, lame, bit we didn’t have enough cash to eat anywhere else! Now we’re in our hotel watching TV and relaxing.
