I was taking a risk but went to Hawaii to try and do a little work and if that didnt work atleast hangout with friends a little. Took the opportunity to visit Pearl harbor and Punchbowl Memorial Cemetery to pay my respects to our fallen soldiers. If your a former service member or your currently protecting and serving here or abroad, just know that your service is very much appreciated!! :)

I am getting more comfortable with my sense of direction here(Honolulu/Oahu),  getting pretty familiar with the roads and having gps on my iphone now is helping me navigate a bit and some of it is in the memory bank now which is nice(no maps needed).

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT HAWAII - at 6am you can drive with shorts and a t-shirt and the windows down and music on and you are not hot or cold just perfect.

rest in peace & thankyou
Even when it gets hot in the daytime its manageable and usually there is a breeze in the air which helps. I dont mind the occasional rain shower, they usually move through quickly and it keeps things green. In seattle it rains only 10% of a day but the rest of the day is overcast and yucky, I prefer it here where it is sunny when not raining.

WHAT I DONT LIKE -  $4.50-$6.00 for a gallon of milk , sale price on the mainland for small yogurts = 3 for $1.00 here sale price is around 3 for $2.00 . Reminds me a bit of the shock of food prices in Norway. I wish they still had ferry service to the other islands so u could just pack up your car with a cooler and weekend getaway stuff and take the car to another island. I also dont like that it is about a 5-6 hour flight to get to the closest US mainland airport.

USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL
The other funny/annoying thing is its the same price to fly from Seattle to most places in Asia as it is from Hawaii even though Hawaii is much closer. However if you were planning lots of trips to Asia or maybe Australia/New Zealand over a few years Hawaii might be a good home base as there are direct flights to Philippines and such so you would spend lots less time flying and at airports, compared to leaving from the mainland. I like it here if was long term but for now i have plans to visit mexico, central and south america and usa locations the next few years so a central local for those places is preferred. Thats the current plans but you know how life changes ;) so who knows.

ON A BUMMER NOTE: my friend elena had a bike accident the last day of her trip. Luckily she has travel insurance as she was busted up really good. Please be careful when traveling, you cant fly home if in the hospital, and if your riding a bike, make sure it is in good shape, you have experience and are not going too fast down hill. still uncertain of what happened for sure(SOME OF THAT IS ACCURATE) as I was not there(had just dropped her off prior to the accident) and she is not in the mood to discuss it much, but goodProxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0 dvice none the less. I wish her a speedy recovery!
