cherry and I @ golf course resto
Where to find photos and storyline: Cherry has started a very nice blog about my stay in Hawaii. So I will let that blog speak most of the story, I may add a few words and touches here myself , but lil miss nanipu can speak for me on most of it :) check this out = http://www.travbuddy.com/travel-blogs/70227/mrshanets-Debis-arrival-1
Preface to story: Cherry and I have been friends online for about 2 years, shortly after I started being active on TB. After a while of chatting(tb, fb , messenger, etc) , we agreed we could probably do a trip together and likely get along just fine with similar interests in regards to traveling(trying new foods , meeting new people, learning about cultures - not laying on beaches and drinking and partying all day and night, etc).
me and chinamans hat - there is a story behind this photo :)
We tried to meet 2 times prior to this but it did not work out because of my work schedule changes and other things("would be fun to meet but not a big deal" type thing). I believe we were right, we will be able to travel in the future no problem if wanted. If you have not met Cherry, you can expect this = soft spoken, polite, easy going, etc.. She is low key and generally easy to DEAL WITH ;) she might give you an "oh whatever" occasionally if you are being funny, but thats about all the attitude she seems to have in her ;) Oh and she is great cuz she is not one of those "that was innapropriate" type girls = I can make silly jokes and say stupid stuff and she just laughs. Which means I could be relaxed and be myself and not stress about things..
Next time we meet: If all works out I will repay my kind host in the next 3 months when she might visit Seattle area and I will play host.
had to get my pic with ronnie once in life :)
So keep your eyes open for that blog(might include with this), I suspect she will write it and I will do it this way again and include it in my Seattle blog as well, to help people visiting the area. Generally I think Cherry and I both are more the types to meet people and show them around for some hours(part of the day) or maybe 1-2 days of hanging out at most. But I would consider her one of my good friends, and so it is a bit different. Just dont expect the same treatment from either one of us (if I can speak for her) if you visit our areas and we have just met. Just depends on connections you make with people and a comfort and interest level. Also depends on how busy a person is at that time. She is also like me in that we both appreciate honesty, i might not like what you say but prefer you speak honestly than to sugar coat something too much and especially, please dont be fake!
MEETING KEITH: Same thing as with Cherry, a couple times previously we were not able to link up at certain TB events.
I think Keith is similar to Cherry and I in regards to SOME of the likes and dislikes when traveling. It was cool to be able to meet him on his turf, see the kids(animals) and relax a bit and not a typical coffee shop meetup. He is very friendly, helpful and his easy peasy relaxed style makes you feel quite comfy :) As cherry's blog says, we were able to see him two times. The 2nd time we went for a 2 hour hike , and more time at his place relaxing and Tb stuff(uploading/sharing pics before my flight out, etc.) He also took us to lunch which was a nice time on the back deck of a little eatery. Oh ya and we were able to quickly meet his nice wife before I had to leave. Keith, his Wife, silly dog, a nice cat, a grumpy bi-polar cat, some fishies, etc.. thats the story in that house :) Thanks for the cookies and vitamin waters and good convo, etc.
pin of a girl who died on flight 93 (9-11-01 plane that was supposed to hit the white house) pin left by loved ones **RIP**
Hope to see you again one day my friend. haha i think i will just copy some of this when I write his vouch ;)
This trip was a lot of fun, the best parts would be meeting my 2 friends and also the Polynesian Cultural center was worth the money(I was skeptical at first). Food wise, I loved the shaved ice and the fried calimari I tried at another place with the special sauce they had was great as well.
WHAT I HOPE TO ADD LATER: I might add some reviews to this entry. Below i will make some notes, which i might later use for those reviews or maybe not. Also maybe add a few pics that cherry has not, or maybe even the same(we exchanged pics before I left/uploaded to each others laptops)
Hawaiian Airlines, was great.
SEE THE PIN IN THE BUSH? lower/middle ....
found it at the top of the trail we hiked
I almost got delayed coming back with a $400 voucher to give up my seat but bummer they did not need me to :( i wish they did not charge $150 to change though, and you have to pay for all checked bags(none free).
Polynesian Cultural Center - educational and fun, $45 price was worth it, many hours of smiles/laughs and learning(includes evening show and is good to admit you for 3 day span). $60 if you want dinner with the evening show.
Shaved ice place - mmmmmmmm good :) met a cool ex officer there also, had a good chat!
other places we ate, golf club at turtle bay - place with calimari, the shack, etc.
