There they go...

My alarm was set for 20 after 6 on a Saturday on a 'vacation'.  I was not a happy camper, since I was going to have to go to a baseball game for a kid I didn't even know.  But, it's not like I had a choice.  I was up and ready, knocking on Emily and Nathan's door at 5 til seven.  We were supposed to be ready to leave at 7.  NATHAN was still in bed.  I was more than irked at this.  It was his godchild that we were going to see.  Emily and I went and got something to eat from the continental breakfast, the choices weren't great, but we made due.

At 8 o'clock, we finally met Pete and Rochelle (and the boys: 9 year old AJ, 2 year old Bryce and 6 week old Matthew) at the local McDonald's.  Then we split up: girls in one car and (all the) boys in the other.

The baseball tournament (now it's not just a game but a tournament) was in Osage Beach, about 45 minutes away.  Once we got there, though, both Pete and Rochelle were confused, there was a new road.  It took us an extra twenty minutes to figure out where we were supposed to be.  AJ's team had already started the game.  But, his team sucked.  (There's no other way to say it).  They called the game during the 3rd inning: 18-3.  Nathan, Emily and I ditched the Maubach family and went to the Osage Beach outlets to see how much money we could spend.

We started in the As Seen on TV store, and luckily, Emily controlled her compulsive urges and I passed on the Magic Meatloaf Maker that I had seen on tv (hahahahaha).

We moved on, shopping in Lane Bryant, Banana Republic, not spending any money, either one of us.  That is, until we came to the Fossil outlet.  I found an awesome purse that was on clearance, plus it was 50% off the clearance price.  Wow! I got a $50 purse for $13.  And, Emily and Nathan found watches for $40.  Our next store, Gap outlet had great bargains, too: $40 hooded sweatshirts for $15.  I had a hard time deciding what color to get!  Even though it was scorching hot outside, we trekked on.  Emily wanted to go to the Coach Outlet, plus we went to Adidas and UnderArmour.

We'd had enough shopping finally, and wanted to get something to eat.  We didn't really want to eat at The Hideout, the restaurant at the outlet mall, so we drove up and down the strip, trying to find something.

But being unfamiliar with the area, and a car full of picky eaters, it wasn't easy.  We ended up back at The Hideout.  The meal was okay.  I was definitely not impressed.  I got the chicken wrap with feta cheese, and olives and roasted red peppers, but I honestly don't think the chicken was cooked done.

After we ate, we went and played mini-golf.  We didn't keep score (we might have a sore loser among us), so we just played for fun.  After the 18 holes, Emily was pretty pink, so we went to Walmart to get her sunscreen.  (Yep -- after the fact).  But, Nathan decided we ought to go back to the motel to get Emily out of the sun.  It made for a good excuse to skip the afternoon baseball games.  We called Pete and Rochelle to let them know what we were doing, but didn't get an answer.

We had stopped at a souvenir shop, where I bought waaaaay too much saltwater taffy, and were more than halfway back to the motel when Pete called us back.  He wanted us to bring Rochelle and the younger boys back with us.  So, we switched it up; headed back to the ballfield, where Nathan stayed with Pete and AJ, and Rochelle and the boys came back with us.  We hung out at the motel for a couple hours before taking pizza out to their house for dinner.  It was an interesting ride out to Pete and Rochelle's.  It is through the hills and hollers of southern Missouri to get there.

This was the first time Emily and Nathan had seen their bulls, Dipstick and DoubleStuf.  The rest of the evening was spent eating, playing with the boys and talking.  We returned to the motel about 11; it didn't take me very long to fall asleep once my head finally hit the pillow.
