O.K so I never made it to the Casino last night! Instead I took a walk up Manchester St. and went into a bar called Bourbon. Because it was a Tuesday night after the Easter weekend, it was absolutly dead, but there was a group of people around my age playing pool so I asked them if they minded if I joined them. There were SO nice to me and made me feel like I had known them for ages! One of the girls even offered to give me a lift to Akoroa for today but I had already made plans.
A couple of hours latter I left to go home, waking up not feeling 100% (thanks to the wine they bought me the night before!). I had such a busy day planned and because I got home so late, I was so tired - my legs were aching and I didn't really want to move. But low and behold I made the effort and got a bus to New Brighton - which I fell in love with - I could have spent the whole day there.
New Brighton is a seaside suburb about 30min north of Christchurch. One of the main attractions is the peir which is about 710m long. There is also a libary that has great views out to sea as well as over to the Port Hills. I walked the streets of New Brighton for about an hour longer - getting more fish and chips and by this stage I was stuffed so I got the bus back to the hotel for a rest.
Next stop is Lyttelton - again really enjoyed this small town, but let me tell you, the people of Lyttelton must be extreamly fit because the steepness of the hills is unbeleivable! The town of Lyttelton is a port town, surrounded by the port hills.
By the time I got back to Christchurch and seeingit was my last day here, I decided to do some shopping. I also decided to climb the Cathedral Tower - $5 which I dunnoo is worth it was it was pretty good all the same. Anyway, back to the hotel to do my washing and BED - finally! Tomorrow I have a massive day - off to the airport to fly to Auckland and then bus down to Rotorua - which Im preparing myself the the stench off - so Im told!
