Evening Sky

On of the things I like to do connecting to nature is go for a walk at nearby Lake Murray. Just to the north is Cowles Mountain and if you hike up you get a great look at the lake. Sometimes I go for a brisk morning walk, other times I may just sit in my car or on a park bench taking it all in and yet other times I like to be there for sunrise or sunset. This is a man made lake where you find people fishing on their boats or having a picnic lunch along the water line. You will often see people on all sorts of bicycles, roller blades, jogging or casual walks all times of day but as the evening comes it gets quiet.
The gate entering the Lake area closes depending on the time of year. If you want to enjoy the lake longer it's best to park on the east side and walk in. Out of all the times I go this is the best time for me watching the moon shimmering across the lake or seeing the small animals come out to play. You can hear the sounds of nature so no need to bring the iPod.
There is a main building where you will find bathrooms and also there are many spots along the path that you can stop to relieve yourself. A park ranger rovers around and park personal are there to keep the area clean and to answers questions.
