On the topic of food, as it was the fellow, residents and other med student's last week, we were taken out for lunch on friday afternoon by the fellow and staff physician, which was also good.
That night we went to the med students' end of year party at a karaoke bar, but unfortunately didn't have opportunity to sing. The Canadians wanted us to do a Spice Girls number, but we spent too much time arguing about who would be Posh.
Sunday we ventured even further east to a neighbourhood called 'The Beaches' where surprisingly enough there were some...beaches! It was so strange to be in the city one minute then in a holiday resort the next - it was really hot, but we didn't fancy chancing a dip in the lake - we heard more than one passing canadian say they would never go in... I'm assuming all the bathers were foreigners, but they were all in one piece so it can't be THAT polluted... In the evening we went back to the Persian restaurant (Pomegranate on College St), which was lovely once again.
Last night we went across to Centre Island after placement hoping to rent a bike and cycle around before sunset, but the sun went down as we got the ferry across and everything was closed, so it turned into a photography session for Alex while I hopped around swatting mossies. On the way back over the city looked amazing all lit up and it was just as scenic as the day if not better, so it was definitely worth going later on.
Tonight I've done a bit of souvenir shopping while alex is on an evening shift and later in the week we're planning to go to a camp Belgian cabaret and the more tame Royal Ontario Museum, and hopefully pack and sort out things for leaving for Cuba on Saturday. It's been an amazing trip so far and I've loved it all, but I'm starting to feel like going home won't be all that bad :D
Looking forward to seeing you all soon - lots of love x x x
here's a couple of Alex's arty pics to start before I get mine uploaded... :p
