Well after almost 3 days on the road / track, we have finally made it to Alberta. We spent 50 HOURS on a train, which isn't actually as bad as it sounds - we got off a couple of times to stretch legs for few mins, there was a viewing car with windows all over to look at the view and there was a dining car where we sat and ate our meals, watching the world go by! Sleeping was horrendous but with our matching eyemasks, ear plugs and neck pillows we got by.
Then after a further 3 hour bus journey, we made it from Edmonton to Calgary, with a nice Canadian guy called Chris who we met on the train. We then parted ways and picked up our camper van - which is soooo cool! It's exactly the type of camping I could get used to - none of this exposed to the elements, cramped, cold business - oh no - flushing toilet, shower, king sized bed and a kitchenette are my minimum requirements. I can even use my straightners.
Last night we parked at a campsite in Banff and today have explored the town and had a picnic lunch in Central Park by the river. We followed the trail down to Bow Falls and back and this afternoon are planning to go to the hot springs later. Tomorrow we're moving on to Lake Louise before heading to Jasper National Park.
Love again to all - speak to you soon, Catherine x x x
