A mosque and a gas station - interesting combination
It might sound odd, but I had actually been looking forward to this day. Though a day off is not exactly the right description, I mean, it is not that I had been working very hard this past month. But today is a day that I don't have to do anything. Kahta is described as a rip-off town, which holds little merit for the casual visitor. My edition of Lonely Planet doesn't even provide a map of the town! So what better place to choose to spend a day doing nothing? Well, apart from some highly necessary laundry that is.

To explain the reasoning about this day off, and the odd location to have it: I spent the whole last night in the bus again, arrived at 6 am this morning, and I will go on a tour which starts 3 am tomorrow morning. So this day was reserved for some much needed sleeping and even more needed blogging.

I have to say, for once the Lonely Planet was absolutely correct in its description of Kahta: it's a horrible place. A one-street town with no interesting sights at all. Well, unless you count the strange combination of a gas station and a mosque as a sight.
No, there is nothing here. In fact, the biggest attraction in Kahta was me! Everywhere I went people were staring at me,  Kids came running after me and old men invited me over for a chat and a çay.

A day off doesn't sound all that strange to me. I actually wonder how you would be able to travel for 9 months, constantly on the move ... never able to settle down for a moment. It would probably drive me mad. (:-/
