Day 193: The return of the two bald men

Thanks to the people I met here and/or travelled with: John (Scotland)
The trip back to Kathmandu was rather uneventful. In fact, the biggest thing happening was that we actually left on time and made good progress. I was back in Kathmandu at 15:30.
Unfortunately the Yeti Guest Home turned out to be full. Despite me making a reservation before I left and leaving my luggage at the hotel, they did not see any reason why they should keep a room for me. People change their minds so often, so they can't guarantee reservations. Hmmm... the Yeti Guest Home had pretty much been my favourite place to stay in Thamel, so I was quite disappointed.
The hotel Cosmic was a good alternative to the Yeti. It was slightly more expensive, but a lot more comfortable. I wanted to stay here tonight and then leave Kathmandu tomorrow and then come back again on Sunday, but unfortunately they are fully booked on Sunday. See, it is possible to make reservations in Kathmandu hotels.
I checked my mails and found a mail from John. He had not managed to change his flights and he was still in Kathmandu. Did I want to meet up for dinner and drinks tonight?
We met up a few hours later and for lack of anything more original we went to the Third Eye restaurant again. On his last night in Kathmandu he wanted to eat some Newari food and while there are Newari restaurants dotted around Kathmandu, we didn't feel like straying too far out of Thamel, so back to Third Eye it was.
After dinner we ended up in the same reggae bar again where we had gone on the last night with Dan and Tom. This time there was a much better band playing and there were far more people too (surprisingly, more than half of them locals!). The band was pretty good, playing mostly rock and metal covers of Metallica and the likes, as well as a very interesting 12-minute metal version of Pink Floyd's Another Brick In The Wall.
