Grand Rapids Zoo..why not ride a camel?

Grand Rapids Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

8 hours away from New York, Grand Rapids has become my home. Whether I am relaxing in the nature preserve, or out at Reeds Lake, Grand Rapids has offered me plenty to do and to see. I love going downtown and coffee shop hopping. Grand Rapids is such a welcoming place.

Maybe it's just because I adore animals, or that I'm a total child at heart.. but I can't help but get excited when I go to the grand rapids zoo! The zoo is free for the month of February, and after that admission spikes to $6.00. Inside, you will find llamas, bears, otters, wolvarines, tigers, penguins.. you name it. For a community zoo, it's a lot of fun. In the summer, they offer camel rides! Anyway, I've been twice and I love it..

though heed my warning :
DO NOT STAND BY THE PENGUIN TANK WHEN THE ZOO MAN THROWS FISH IN THE WATER.

there's nothing quite like getting dirty water splashed on you.. dirty water that penguins poop in...and eat sick fish in.. EW SICK.

;-)

and there are igloos in the winter.
Little Bohemia is my favorite store of all time, by far. There are two locations, one in Woodland Mall and one in Downtown GR. I love the downtown boutique. Inside, you will find one of a kind clothing and fabrics. Also, there are mounds and mounds of different kinds of beads, as well as hemp and other jewelry making materials. You will also find organic teas and one of a kind shoes. The prices are very steep though. While beads may run you a few dollars..pillows, shoes, and clothing be around $50.00 or depending on the piece, run you into the hundreds.
Even if you just want to browse, go right ahead.

My favorite deal though is 2 headbands for $5.00.. perhaps that's why I have 20 headbands... ;-)

This store is awesome!
