In Split, Croatia! I hiked up to the very top of that mountain baby!
So!!! Things are much better. Much much better. After staying in some old woman's bedroom on my first night here, I went to Split Hostel. My haven! This place is awesome. The girls who run it are from Australia and are just the nicest people. Last night, I dormed with an Aussie girl who was here to meet her friend, two Aussie boys who have been backpacking around the world since last September, and two guys from Rio Brazil. Everyone is totally super cool. Anyway, I spent the day at the famous Bacvice Beach, getting eaten by ants. Let me tell you, Croatian beaches are nothing compared to Hawaii. When I walked back to the hostel, one of the Aussie boys asked me out to dinner! By the way, both are very adorable and complete party animals. So we went to a little restaurant and had the most amazing croatian food. I had risotto scampi.....the seafood here is to DIE for! We then all hung out at the hostel, drinking, sharing stories, etc till a little after midnight and headed out to a bar. We went to a bar that was out on the Riva, had a few scooners, and I met up with the Aussie girl, Tina, and her Croatian/Aussie friend Mimi. Those girls are so much fun! It's too bad they both left today. ANyway, we walked about 20 minutes to Bacvice Beach where all the insane clubs and bars are. We decided to go to one called O'hare which is a total local hotspot. I seriously was like the only American there......I loved it! We danced a lot and then Mimi's friends showed up to hang out with us too. I met a German guy who was totally cool and we hit it off pretty well. So, at around 4:30 in the morning, we headed back to the hostel. Now, I've finally dragged myself out of bed, and out into the world again. I leave for Kastel Kambelovac tomorrow afternoon so I have to get a bus ticket too. I think I might take a hike above the city today and then have an easy night tonight. So, as you can see, things are looking up from the other day. I'll still probably call home crying, but at least I'll have some great stories to tell. Tell me your thoughts at my myspace or my email, firstname.lastname@example.org ALoha! and pray for me!
